The Hangover - Part 2 (2011)

When it's over, the cast of the original Hangover return for another night of drug induced amnesia. The film feels like a horror film that's had too many sequels.  Instead of trying to invent new ways to kill people, the Hangover Part 2 tries to find new ways to be more crude, more obnoxious, more "over the top."  There's nothing original or fresh about this film.  It's the same stuff rejigged, and the only difference is the setting.  Instead of Las Vegas, it's Thailand.  I was disappointed the producers didn't take advantage of the returning cast by giving them new material to work with which would have developed their characters making the film a true sequel.  I think it would be interesting to see the characters pay for their stupidity, instead of having everything end "fine and dandy." However, the film is first and foremost, a comedy, so while the Hangover was fun the first time around, the second time's just redundant.

My rating: 1.5 out 5

  1. Very redundant indeed... The writers and producers pretty much just capitalized on the success of the first one without adding anything new. I don't see the point of making the same formula and just changing the setting. Waste of money. 2 thumbs down.
